TRADITION SINCE THE EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY, The Ohio Statehouse Christmas tree was originally placed on the grounds outside the capitol providing a festive seasonal atmosphere to the annual tree lighting ceremony.  In 2013 the Christmas tree was officially moved inside the atrium on Capitol Square, where it continues to herald the Christmas season.

Currently the Christmas tree is lit in early December in a ceremony highlighted by choirs, arts and crafts, games, cookies and over a 1,000 people who greet Santa at the Capitol for an evening of fun and frolic.
